Low Carb Appetizers: A Party Spread

By The Sugarfreechic Cook 5.0 (2)

I'm still in stomach recovery mode, but at least I am at a point where I think about food, even if my stomach won't let me eat anything. With the boxes slowly disappearing from the floor, I can finally start to plan our housewarming party.

I'm so excited to have a house with a large living room and patio area. For once we will have enough space to have parties this summer. Our last place was so tiny that if we wanted to have a party it meant taking over the shared driveway.

For parties I love to serve a feast of appetizers. Simple Low Carb finger food are my favorite. This allows you to skip buying the plastic silverware and use that money towards something truly important...the food. Here are some of my favorite Low Carb appetizers that I will definitely be cooking up for our housewarming party.

How I build a low carb appetizer spread by type

I have found that a good spread is not about making ten random things, it is about balance. If you group your low carb appetizers by how they serve, the table stays interesting and you stay out of the kitchen while your guests arrive. I think in four little buckets.

Pick one or two from each bucket and you have a feast that feeds a room without one of those carb-loaded grocery platters. If you want more grab-and-go ideas to round things out, my low carb snacks roundup is full of them. Here are the ten I keep coming back to.

Frequently asked questions

What are the easiest low carb appetizers to make ahead?

Marinated mozzarella, almond stuffed olives and a cheese plate all sit happily in the fridge overnight and taste better for the wait. The skewers can be threaded a few hours early and chilled. I save the wings, frittatas and green bean fries for last so they hit the table warm.

Which of these keto finger foods are good for a crowd?

Bite sized meatballs, wings and the mini frittatas scale up the easiest. Double or triple the batch, keep them on a warm tray, and they disappear fast. Dips like the artichoke stuffed mushrooms also stretch a long way with a veggie platter alongside.

How do I build a balanced low carb party spread?

Pick one or two from each type: a hot bite, something cold and make-ahead, a dippable, and a handheld skewer or olive. That mix keeps the table interesting and means you are not stuck in the kitchen frying everything at once while your guests are arriving.

Are these low carb appetizers gluten free?

Most are naturally gluten free since they lean on cheese, eggs, meat and vegetables instead of bread or crackers. Always read your sausage, salami and store-bought sauce labels, as a few brands sneak in fillers and sugar.
