About Sugarfreechic

I love good food. The trouble is that, like a lot of people, I have found that all things carbs love me a whole lot less than I love them. They leave me tired and hungry an hour later. So instead of fighting that, I started cooking the food I can actually eat.

That is the whole idea behind Sugarfreechic. It is a collection of Low Carb and sugar-free recipes I make in my own kitchen, the way I actually make them. To me Low Carb is a lifestyle, not a diet and not a punishment. I am not interested in sad, fake versions of food I gave up. When you live a Low Carb lifestyle you have to start cooking with the food you can eat, not trying to replace something you should not be eating in the first place. Who says chicken salad needs two slices of bread? Who says chili needs beans?

So here you will find real recipes, honest kitchen notes, and the occasional admission that a dish was not the prettiest thing I ever made, just one of the tastiest. Some are quick, some are a little fussy, and all of them are food I would happily put on my own plate.

One honest note before you cook. I am a home cook sharing what works for me, not a dietitian or a doctor. Any nutrition numbers and net carb counts you see here are my best estimates, so please run your own based on the exact brands and ingredients you use.

Have a question, a recipe request, or a tip of your own? I would love to hear it. Just head over to the contact page. Keep an eye out for more recipes, and happy Low Carb cooking.
